The "Targets and their environments" working group has as its primary goal to provide the necessary information on the characteristics of stars and the way they can influence both the detection techniques and the structure and evolution of the planets themselves. This includes attaining a proper understanding of the physical properties of stars, their associated radiation and particle emissions (including time variability) and their immediate surroundings (such as multiplicity and dust). The group will also carry out a census of the target stars suitable for the different detection efforts.
